One of the ways that gun ownership has been negatively stigmatized in our country is through a negative twist to what was a simple and sincere campaign that encouraged parents to ask about gun storage before play dates or sleepovers. The “ASK Campaign” became a weaponized political tool and far too many gun owners react negatively to what should be seen as opportunity to demonstrate responsibility and have positive conversations.
