Update on the Collaboration with USCCA and the Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Program

The Defensive Shooting Fundamentals program is completely developed, launched and reaching students all across the country.It’s been awhile since I have formally posted any type of update on the development and growth of the Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Program. The PDN Training Tour had me busy since March and there is always a lot going on… but, this seemed like a great time to share some information, with a large Instructor Development class being held this weekend in Wisconsin.

Intuitive Defensive Shooting … and the end of the “Combat Focus™” Brand

After 15 years, I have officially decided to change the name of the Combat Focus™ Shooting Program to “Intuitive Defensive Shooting™”. This was not something that was done lightly, as many people have come to trust the “CFS Program”…. And many people have been advocates for it, often in the face of significant skepticism, for many years.

PDN Training Tour: Two Person Armed Defense Course Review!

This year’s PDN Training Tour offered the most diverse collection of courses we’ve ever offered. One of the more unique courses that was taught in a few locations across the country was I.C.E. Training’s Two Person Armed Defense. A Team Tactics Course specifically designed for the everyday person who spends a lot of time with other people who are armed. It is not a fantasy camp class where students pretend to be SWAT Team Members or perform bounding overwatch across open ranges with burning cars and smoke grenades creating great photo ops, but no practical value.

Sig P320s banned from Live Fire Courses… and WHY.

Officially: Sig P320s that are not Improved to the new factory specs (or otherwise modified to reduce Drop Fire Risk) may not be used in I.C.E. Training Company Live Fire classes. While their response to the safety issue is currently being touted as a Voluntary Program, I wouldn’t be surprised if this actually evolves into a more traditional “Recall” at some point.

The long awaited reboot of the Association of Defensive Shooting Instructors is finally here!  As promised last year when we suspended the promotion and growth of ADSI and extended all current members through March 1st, 2015 without additional charges, we have re-visited our initial intentions, re-structured the organization and are proud to be moving forward …
