Update on the Collaboration with USCCA and the Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Program

The Defensive Shooting Fundamentals program is completely developed, launched and reaching students all across the country. It’s been awhile since I have formally posted any type of update on the development and growth of the Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Program. The PDN Training Tour had me busy since March and there is always a lot going on… but, this seemed like a great time to share some information, with a large Instructor Development class being held this weekend in Wisconsin.

Why did I start carrying the Springfield XD-S 4″?

The XD-S 4″ came out, passed reliability testing and I kinda fell in love with it. That was 2014. There is a lot of stock put into what guns any of the leaders in the training or shooting communities choose. Sometimes that is a great thing, sometimes: not so much. The question that was asked this morning is a good one to ask if you have someone you admire or look to for quality information. Why are they using the gear they are using. Sometimes you’ll get a good story that is organic and genuine… one that makes sense to you. Sometimes you’ll be told flat out: They’re paying me to use it. Other times, you won’t get much to go on and you’ll be left guessing.

National Reciprocity may not be a WIN for the Right to Keep & Bear Arms.

ust be distracting us. What good is the right to carry a gun in a State that restricts the possession of the type of gun you carry, the type of ammunition you rely on or the magazines you load? Is National Reciprocity really a win if it replaces the current system in your State that serves you well, increases costs and extends waiting times? The fact is that “National Reciprocity” isn’t even on the table for a RKBA Purist, as the whole permitting process undermines the Constitutionally Protected Right to Keep and Bear Arms. What we should be talking about is National Right to Carry, not a new or expanded version of the current infringement.

The CrossBreed AIWB Holster has been my go to for several years. They’re running a sale on them this week: https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Product/Appendix-Carry. Many of you know that I’ve worked with Crossbreed for a long time, they’ve supported the PDN Training Tour for years, we’ve collaborated on holster designs and I consider many of their staff to …

Armed Citizen Stops Potential Lethal Attack without Shooting… Should he have gotten involved?

When I’m scheduled to be a guest on Armed American Radio and don’t have anything in particular to talk about, Mark Walters often sends me links to current event type stories that he’d like to discuss or get my opinion on. Late yesterday afternoon, he did just that. The link he sent me was to the …

Do I think the Gov’t should be involved in setting Firearms Training Standards? No.

In the aftermath of a national story about a local instructor in Ohio who fired a round into a student’s arm in a classroom (and apparently had also negligently shot a round into a little girl a few decades ago), I was asked to comment on the possible value of the government setting standards for …
